Cavtel saga pt 22: They want me back!

They said: "We want you back with Cavalier. That's why we're sending you this offer. Sign up today and get unlimited local calls and FREE nationwide long-distance calling to other Cavalier telephone customers for just $24.95 a month! *"

Ignoring that ominous asterisk for now, I read on - seems they want me to believe that switching is easy, and I'll get to keep my number! Also, they'll only charge me 5¢/minute for long distance to other North American providers! Golly! It all sounds too good to be true!

The asterisk refers to some legalese in 10pt Eyestrain down at the bottom of the page, ahh.. yes, the pricing is only good through the end of September, and doesn't include taxes and fees. Also.... a mysterious item called "Satisfaction Guarantee" is introduced, read it carefully -

"Eligible customers must call within 30 days from the date of first invoice to receive satisfaction guarantee. Satisfaction guarantee credit equal to first monthly fee (excluding tax and surcharges)."

Lovely, as soon as you sign up, they're already starting to screw you over; just to get the rate they've promised, YOU have to call the nightmare that is Cavtel Customer Service, by the deadline, or nuts to you.

Pass. Wish they'd quit littering.
